About Sifter

Sifter is a super fun project co-led by Matt Wilson, Mary Halvorson and I. I remember the plan being hatched while I was on the road with the Matt Wislon Quartet. Matt and I started to talk about a trio project and we both thought Mary Halvorson was the ideal guitarist.

I have been a member of the Matt Willson Quartet since 2009, and have known Mary for a number of years and in 2010 began frequently play as a sub in her quintet. We also collaborated together as a part of Matt Wilson’s Tospy Turvy.

Recordings:

Sifter features compositions by all three members and has a striped down, rocking and free form sound. We recorded our debut CD, We are Sifter, in October of 2011 and look forward to its release next year.
